Classroom Reveal

It's that time again!  I am finally finished with my new classroom. I am changing grade levels this year. I will be trading in Firsties for Fouthies! I'm pretty excited. I will be apart of a three-way blocking team. I am the ELA teacher. Later I will post about planning, organizing, and managing three classes. This post will only show before and after pictures of my new classroom.

My classroom has about 1/3 of the floor tile and the rest carpeted. I also have a bathroom in my classroom. I believe this was once a kindergarten.

There was so much furniture in this room when I walked into it. It also had many years, grade levels, and content areas that had let its residue behind. I spent about a week prior to the first required work day cleaning and organizing. Once I got it cleaned, I had much of the furniture taken away. I added a few small pieces of furniture. I purchased a ten dollar white end table for my library area, a $28 cube shelf, and $15 regular black shelf all from Walmart. The end table and cubic shelf are pictured below. The book display and tool board were already apart of my classroom, so I decided to make this area into the library/listening center. I made the crate seats. I had the crates already. The material came from Walmart and the wood came from Lowe's.

It was so hard to make a layout that I thought would be functional for what I have in mind for the whole group and small group instruction. I finally decided on the tile area being for quiet activities. The carpet area is for instruction and conversations. I placed my desk as far back in the room as possible. Last year I got rid of my desk altogether but never had a place to store personal items. Basically, I have a desk to hold my purse and phone.

I placed a table in front of the counter for my writing center. To the left of the table, on the back wall, are the computers. I have stools and stability ball for seating.
